KUCHING, Feb 1: The Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations in Sarawak will proceed as usual starting Feb 3 to 6, and candidates affected by the flood are urged to immediately contact their schools or exam centres for support or assistance, Sarawak Education Department director Omar Mahli says.

He assured that candidates would get the assistance they need in order for them to reach the schools to sit for their exams.

“We still have the SPM examination ongoing, which will continue from Feb 3 to 6. We urge students affected by the flood to contact the school immediately.

“If they are unable to contact the school or there are issues getting in contact with them, please get in touch with the agency members at their respective PPS to request their assistance in contacting the school.

“Right now, principals of schools where students are affected by the flood are still trying to bring them back to school,” Omar told reporters after accompanying Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof during his visit at SK Sejijak PPS today.

He noted that some schools are making arrangements to temporarily accommodate students affected by the flood, ensuring that they can sit for their exams.

Currently, 164 schools, education institutions, and District Education offices (PPD) are affected by the flood in Sarawak.

A total of 35,424 candidates have registered to sit for the 2024 SPM examination at 255 centres across Sarawak. – DayakDaily
