KUCHING, Nov 18: There will be no changes in the seating arrangement of Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) elected representatives in the upcoming Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting from Nov 20 to 29.

DUN Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar noted that PSB had shifted its stance where during the recent Jepak by-election, the party and their supporters have openly backed up and supported Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate Iskandar Turkee.

“There is a shift in the stance of PSB. As such, they no longer see themselves playing the role of opposition.

“However, I received no signal from the leadership of GPS to shift the seating arrangement of PSB members,” he told a press conference held at Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) headquarters in Jalan Bako today.

He was responding to a reporter’s query who asked whether the seating arrangement for PSB members in DUN would change following the recent agreement between the party and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP), a component party of GPS.

“They (PSB and PDP) may be getting together, but GPS leadership has not sanctioned this, and I receive no signal to change the seats,” he pointed out.

At the same time, Asfia clarified that PSB president Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh is no longer the opposition leader simply because they are not playing the role of opposition anymore.

However, the new opposition leader in the upcoming DUN sitting has not yet been revealed.

Earlier, Asfia announced that there would be slight changes in the seating arrangement that involve the Jepak seat and shifting of seats among the GPS members.

Also present at the press conference were Deputy Speaker Dato Idris Buang and DUN secretary Pele Peter Tinggom. — DayakDaily
