Song, July 8: A total of 20 families who have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, have received food aid under Ops Bantu from the Song district police.

Song District Police Chief DSP Rowney Michael Jalak said the distribution of food supplies was carried out at two locations on July 7 and 8, which encompass the squatter area at Kg Alai, Sg Capi and at Simpang 4 Bomba, Jalan Temalat.

“The program is an initiative of the Home Ministry including PRDM (Royal Malaysia Police) and Rela (People’s Volunteer Corps) together with the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) to help those affected, especially those who lost their food supply during the pandemic,” he said in a statement today.

He revealed the donations were in the form of basic necessities, namely dry food including rice, sugar, cooking oil, and others.

“Apart from enforcing the law, Song IPD is very concerned about the situation of individuals affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Such a contribution, although small, is expected to ease the burden borne by them,” he said.

Rowney said those in need of assistance may contact the IPD Song telephone line or the Op Bantu IPD Song Coordination Officer, Insp Lonie Butek at 016-9006767.

Also present at the program were the Head of Crime Prevention and Community Division of IPD Song, Lonie Butek, Rela Song Officer, Kevin Mirek and members of Amanita and the Integrity and Standards Compliance Division (BIPS) of IPD Song. — DayakDaily
