TYT, Premier attend Malaysia Day thanksgiving ceremony at Masjid Jamek

KUCHING, Sept 15: The national level Malaysia Day 2026 celebration continued with a thanksgiving ceremony held at Masjid Jamek Negeri Sarawak here tonight.

According to TVS, the ceremony was attended by the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi.

Wan Junaidi and his wife arrived at 6.30pm and were welcomed by Sarawak Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Minister and Minister-in-Charge of the Malaysia Day 2026 celebration, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, as well as Deputy Minister for Utilities (Sarawak Energy Berhad and PETROS), Datuk Ibrahim Baki.

Also present were Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki.

The ceremony was attended by nearly 1,000 worshippers and members of the public, who gathered to express their gratitude in conjunction with the Malaysia Day 2026 celebration.

The event began with congregational Maghrib prayers, followed by a Yaasin recitation led by Sarawak Grand Imam Dato Mustapha Kamal Ahmad Fauzi.

The programme continued with zikir marhaban recitations, before the thanksgiving prayer was led by the Sarawak Grand Imam.

The ceremony provided an opportunity to express gratitude for the peace, harmony, and spirit of unity that continue to form the foundation of life in Sarawak’s multiracial society.

The event continued with congregational Isyak prayers before concluding with a dinner held with the guests of honour and members of the public in attendance. — DayakDaily
