KUCHING, April 1: From April 2 onwards, passengers from Singapore arriving in Miri will not be required to undergo a RTK-AG Covid-19 test.

However, those in transit through Singapore will have to get themselves tested before they arrive in Miri.

According to a report from the Sarawak Public Information Unit (Ukas), Transport Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin said this is due to the fact that those from Singapore would have already been tested with a RTK-AG test during the pre-release preparations.

“As for passengers who are transiting through Singapore before their journey to Miri, they will have to undergo the RTK-AG test,” Lee said yesterday after conducting a survey at Miri Airport arrival hall in preparation for passengers arriving from Singapore tomorrow.

Earlier, he was also briefed by representatives from Malaysia Airport Sdn Bhd on the procedures.

Lee, who is also the minister in charge of the Miri Divisional Disaster Management Committee, said passengers who are non-citizens and test positive for Covid-19 will be sent to private Covid-19 Quarantine and Treatment Centers (PKRC).

Malaysian citizens can undergo home quarantine and they will be assessed through the MySejahtera app.

Meanwhile, every foreigner arriving in Miri must have medical insurance amounting to USD20,000 as outlined by the Malaysian government. — DayakDaily
