SIBU, April 8: The Sarawak government has been urged to address the issue of the lack of gas cylinders here.

Sibu MP Oscar Ling Chai Yew said that his service centre had postponed the gas subsidy programme in his area due to the lack of gas cylinders.

“Since gas cylinders are under the jurisdiction of the Sarawak government, they should find a way to overcome the problem,” he said when met by the media at a special subsidy sales programme for necessities at Pasar Raya MDS.

Ling wants the Sarawak government to take the matter seriously because many are affected by the lack of gas cylinders, and many retailers or gas suppliers do not have enough supply, thus, affecting their businesses.

Speaking of the programme, he said he was considering organising it in rural areas.

“So far, this programme has only been carried out in urban areas as it is usually carried out in collaboration with supermarkets or shopping centres.

“This is because outside town, there are no supermarkets that can supply goods for this programme,” he stressed. — DayakDaily
