KUCHING, June 20: An individual selling illegal lottery tickets was among those to get compounded for violating Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP).
This incident was among 35 compound notices across seven offence categories issued by the police over the most recent 24-hour period.
According to a report from the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), the police issued compound notices yesterday for breaking curfew (24), vehicles carrying more passengers than permitted (3), not wearing facemasks (2), not checking-in into premises using MySejahtera (2), escaping from areas under the Enhanced Movement Control Order and removal of wristbands (2), failing to limit the number of customers in the premises (1) and conducting a prohibited activity specifically selling illegal lottery tickets (1).
They were issued in Kuching (18), Bintulu (10), Lawas (4), Sibu (2) and Miri (1).
With this, the cumulative number of compounds issued by the police since March 2020 has increased to 7,988.
Meanwhile, local council enforcement officers issued 19 compound notices yesterday for various Covid-19 SOP violations.
The offences include not wearing facemasks (4), not updating registration book (3), not checking in using MySejahtera (3), not practising physical distancing (3), opening premises without permission (2), dine-in (2), operating beyond permitted hours (1) and not providing hand sanitizer (1).
There were eight compounds issued by the Kapit District Council followed by Kota Samarahan Municipal Council with four, Padawan Municipal Council (3), Bintulu Development Authority (2), Betong District Council (1) and Miri City Council (1).
Thus, the cumulative number of compounds issued by the local authorities since February 2021 has increased to 1,129. — DayakDaily
