Search for missing elderly man from Kpg Taee halted after week-long efforts

SERIAN, June 26: The search and rescue (SAR) operation for an 88-year-old man from Kampung Taee along Jalan Baki-Riih, who had been missing since June 17, was stood down today.

According to a report by the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the decision to end the seven-day search was made at 5pm yesterday (June 25).

Earlier, the SAR team had widened their search to a radius of six kilometres from the SAR control post but failed to find any new leads on the victim.

The elderly man, identified as Asui Langgang, left his home in Kampung Taee on June 17 at 9am on a motorcycle to gather vegetables in the forest.

When he did not return the same day, family members and villagers initiated a search and found his motorcycle in the Achul area but could not locate him. – DayakDaily
