KUCHING, April 21: Kampung No. 3, 4, 5 and 6 in Satok will see an implementation of facility upgrade projects following the approval of an allocation worth RM1.3 million.

Satok assemblyman Dato Ibrahim Baki said it is a ‘gift’ to Satok constituents from the revenues made by the Sarawak government, as the income generated has been returned to the people in the form of projects.

Among the facility upgrade projects are the upgrading of SK Merpati Jepang school hall, Dewan Datu Merpati Jepang, at Kampung No. 4.

“Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusuf, when he visited this hall also pledged to assist in the upgrading project, for today, I am approving the sum of RM340,000 to initiate repairs to the hall’s ceiling and roof,” said the Deputy Minister of Utility (Sarawak Energy and Petros).

He said this during the PBB Satok Zone 2 Aidilfitri gathering at SK Merpati Jepang on Sunday (April 20).

For Kampung No. 3, he said RM360,000 has been allocated to upgrade the village’s drainage system.

Meanwhile, three separate projects were approved for Kampung No. 5, namely the construction of a ramp for Sungai Lajim (RM100,000), an access road (RM80,000), and upgrading the village’s drainage system (RM50,000).

For Kampung No. 6, RM150,000 is earmarked for the upgrading of the village’s drainage system, while another RM120,000 is allocated for road resurfacing works.

“This is for the development and beautification (of the village). Aside from these projects, I will be discussing (further projects) with the village leaders,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ibrahim hailed Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg for his role in bringing development to Sarawak.

“When Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim came to visit us (on Saturday), he praised the Premier and the leadership in Sarawak as we have exceeded his (Anwar’s) expectations.

“We don’t wait for allocations from the federal government (to implement projects) as we have our own funds. We are able to do this because of our growing revenues and the way we manage Sarawak under the Premier’s stewardship,” he said.

Ibrahim’s wife, Datin Hajah Noor Akmar Hamdan, political secretary to the Premier, Abdul Samat Gany, and political secretary to Deputy Prime Minister, Irwan Zulkarnain Hasbie, were also present. — DayakDaily
