Sarawak Pavilion at Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair 2023 draws 5,000 visitors and counting

KUCHING, May 30: The Sarawak Pavilion, organised by Pustaka Sarawak at the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair 2023 has received nearly 5,000 visitors since its opening on May 26, with daily footfall steadily increasing.

According to a media release today, Sarawak as the Negeri Tamu for the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair 2023 was launched by Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim officially launched the book exhibition and visited the Sarawak Pavilion on May 27.

Among the agencies featured in the pavilion include the Sarawak Premier’s Department, Sarawak Tourism Board (STB), Business Events Sarawak, Centex Commercial, i-CATS University, Sarawak Arts Council and various Sarawak entrepreneurs.

The Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the National Book Council and other synergistic partners, organised the book fair.

The main objectives of the Sarawak Pavilion are to promote the tourism industry and investment in Sarawak, celebrate local culture and arts, and elevate the book and publishing industry in Malaysia and Sarawak.

Among the event highlights include Sarawakiana talks, forums, local product manufacturing workshop, Sarawak cultural performances, exhibition by the education institutions as well as sales and display of Sarawak products.

Pustaka Sarawak invites members of the public from throughout the country, especially children and students, to visit the book fair and explore the Sarawak Pavilion until June 4.

This is also an excellent opportunity to purchase books at affordable prices.
