KUCHING, Sept 13: A man died after the Perodua Kenari he was driving skidded and overturned into a drain along Jalan Sungai Moyan here early this morning.
In a statement, Padawan District Police Chief Supt Barry William said the victim, identified as 41-year-old Jeffery Dion, was driving alone from Pines Square, Batu Kawa towards Kampung Sagah along Jalan Matang when the accident occurred at around 3am.
He added that the Padawan District Police Headquarters Traffic Division received information about the accident at around 10.30am, after which a team of officers was dispatched to the scene to conduct investigations.
“Initial investigations found that the Perodua Kenari was travelling straight before the victim was believed to have lost control of the vehicle.
“The vehicle then skidded onto the right shoulder of the road before spinning and overturning into the drain. The impact also caused the victim to be thrown from the vehicle into the drain on the right shoulder of the road,” he said.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by an assistant medical officer from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
