KUCHING, May 30: A 10-year-old boy pled guilty to a charge of stealing a large amount of ice cream from a freezer at a car wash at the Magistrate’s Court today.

The 10-year-old boy pleaded guilty to the charge framed under Section 380 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment and a fine upon conviction.

As the accused is still under 21-years-old, Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi fixed July 13 to hear the probation report regarding the accused before passing sentence.

Magistrate Zubaidah allowed the accused to be released on court bail of RM2,000 with his father as a surety.

He was found guilty of stealing all kinds of ice cream at a car wash at approximately 9.25pm on May 21.

According to the brief facts of the case, the complainant discovered that the freezer placed outside his shop was broken.

Upon reviewing CCTV footage, it was discovered that the accused had climbed across the fence of the shop, entered the premises, and took away all the ice cream the freezer contained, causing a loss of about RM200.

Prosecuting Officer Inspector Nur Syafiqa Nyaie Ilin prosecuted the case, while the accused was unrepresented by counsel. — DayakDaily
