BAU, June 8: The Sarawak government is targeting to vaccinate approximately 800 individuals daily here when the existing capacity is increased in the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (Pick) starting this month.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) deputy chairman Datuk Ik Pahon Joyik said since the start of the second phase of the Pick programme, Bau District has been able to vaccinate 500 individuals at present.

“I hope to see the existing vaccination capacity of about 500 daily to be increased to 800,” he said in a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) today.

Ik Pahon also mentioned that he had discussed with Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep and Serembu assemblyman Miro Simuh so as to intensify the registration of vaccine recipients among the population under their respective areas.

“I have also discussed with the two elected representatives to first help the campaign so that the entire population of Bau can come down for vaccination. That is the only way for us to deal with this Covid-19 pandemic,” he added.

On Monday, Ik Pahon went on the ground to monitor the implementation of Pick at the vaccination centre (PPV) located at Dewan Perdana, Akademi Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia, Wilayah Sarawak here. — DayakDaily
