KUCHING, April 30: Sarawak Information Systems Sdn Bhd (SAINS) has partnered MoveNet Malaysia Sdn Bhd to explore potential areas of cooperation in digital trade, including the development of a Single Trade Window (STW) initiative in Sarawak, marking a strategic step towards strengthening the State’s digital trade ecosystem.

The collaboration, formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) exchange yesterday (April 29), establishes a framework for both parties to jointly explore opportunities in digital trade facilitation.

It aims to drive discussions, knowledge sharing, and the exchange of expertise to better understand how technology can improve efficiency, transparency, and coordination across trade-related processes.

Under the MoU, SAINS and MoveNet Malaysia will collaborate on potential solutions, including conceptualisation, technical engagements, and identifying suitable approaches to advance digital trade facilitation in Sarawak.

SAINS chief executive officer Busiai Seman said the collaboration underscores ongoing efforts to support the State’s digital transformation agenda.

“This collaboration reflects our continued efforts to explore opportunities that support Sarawak’s digital transformation agenda. Through this engagement, we aim to better understand how digital solutions can enhance trade facilitation and strengthen coordination across relevant stakeholders,” he said in a media release.

The MoU exchange was carried out between Busiai and MoveNet Malaysia senior vice president Steven Lim Kee Seng, and witnessed by the Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg during PROTECT Sarawak 2026, an international conference focused on data privacy and digital trust.

The initiative is expected to open pathways for Sarawak to further enhance its trade facilitation capabilities through digital innovation, in line with broader efforts to position the State as a forward-looking digital economy hub. — DayakDaily
