KUCHING, July 15: The police are keeping most of its roadblocks up as inter-district travel is still not allowed during Phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan.

However, some in the city may be closed due to redundancy such as the one at Jalan Lapangan Terbang (near Lee Onn Development) while the one at Tun Salahudin Bridge will be closed as well.

“It is closed due to redundancy. At the same time, it is also due to manpower shortage,” Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail told DayakDaily.

He added that currently there are a total of 131 roadblocks across Sarawak, with 1,523 uniformed personnel manning them.

Kuching police chief ACP Ashmon Bajah said they are maintaining eight roadblocks within the city, covering the border lanes.
