KUCHING, April 16: SK Satria Jaya in BDC is set to undergo a water piping system upgrade with an allocation of RM89,000 under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) 2025, aimed at resolving persistent low water pressure that has been affecting daily school operations.

Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap, together with officers from the Public Works Department (JKR), conducted a site visit to the school today to inspect and advance the proposed project.

According to a statement, the visit followed a request from the school’s Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG), which had raised concerns over ongoing water pressure issues. Subsequent technical assessments found that the existing water pumping system is no longer functioning effectively and requires replacement.

Recognising the urgency, Yap secured the RM89,000 allocation to ensure the school receives a more reliable and efficient water supply system.

During the visit, Yap worked closely with JKR officers to finalise the project scope and Bill of Quantities (BQ). Once completed, the documentation will be submitted to the Kuching Resident’s Office, where the next stage will involve selecting a contractor through a tender process.

Yap stressed that access to basic utilities such as clean and reliable water supply is crucial, particularly in schools where it directly impacts the well-being and learning environment of students and teachers.

“I take seriously every request raised by the community, especially when it concerns the welfare of our students. This project is not just about infrastructure, but about ensuring a conducive and safe environment for learning,” he said.

He added that he will continue to monitor the project closely to ensure timely and effective implementation.

The initiative underscores Yap’s ongoing commitment to addressing grassroots needs and delivering practical solutions to improve the quality of life for residents in Kota Sentosa. — DayakDaily
