LIMBANG, June 7: The RM22 million access road project to Taman Tasik Bukit Mas is still in its early planning stages, with the proposed new route set to replace the existing one, which has been deemed unsafe for public use.
According to Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak, the project, set to be tendered in the third quarter of 2025, aims to enhance safety and accessibility while supporting the growth of the surrounding recreational area.
The planned road will not only offer a more secure passage for visitors but also contribute to the long-term development of Taman Tasik Bukit Mas as a key local attraction.
Deputy Minister of Food Industry, Commodities and Regional Development, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail, who is also the Bukit Kota assemblyman, visited the site during a working visit to assess progress and discuss future plans for major infrastructure projects in the Limbang Division on Friday (June 6).
In addition to the access road project, he also visited the Limbang Riverbank Phase 1 Project, where RM9 million worth of riverbank slope repair works are currently underway.
The works are progressing on schedule and are expected to be completed by December 2025. The project is part of a broader initiative to mitigate erosion and beautify the waterfront area in the town centre.
Also present during the visit were Limbang Division Resident Unus Tambi, JKR Limbang Divisional engineer Mahathir Jokeni, JKR Sarawak civil engineer Ir Muhammad Nasrullah Roslan, project coordinator Siew Kung Kiong, architect Nurina Matnor; and Wong Lee Kong from SHC Sdn Bhd.
JKR Sarawak reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that all development projects are carried out efficiently, safely, and with a lasting positive impact on the local community. — DayakDaily
