SEBUYAU, July 9: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg led a motorcycle convoy from the Batang Lupar 1 Bridge to Sibu today, covering more than 200 kilometres through Pusa and Sarikei in a journey that reflected the State leadership’s commitment to staying connected with the people while witnessing first-hand development progress along Sarawak’s key growth corridors.
The convoy, accompanied by high-powered motorcycles and support teams, began shortly after Abang Johari officiated the opening ceremony of the Batang Lupar 1 Bridge.
According to Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), the ride through several districts drew the attention of residents who gathered along the route to welcome the Premier and the delegation.

At towns and junctions along the way, members of the public took the opportunity to wave, capture photographs and witness the convoy’s orderly movement, which showcased discipline, teamwork and close cooperation among the various agencies involved.
The convoy made its first stop at Dataran Tandang Sari, Pusa, where Abang Johari spent time engaging with community leaders, local representatives and residents in a relaxed setting while enjoying light refreshments.
The interaction provided an opportunity to strengthen ties between the State leadership and the local community before the convoy continued its journey towards Sarikei.
Upon arrival at Masjid Al-Mutaqqin in Sarikei, Premier and his delegation performed Zohor and Asar prayers consecutively before meeting and engaging with members of the community who had gathered there.

The convoy was joined by members of the Sarawak government leadership, government officials, Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) personnel, media representatives and support teams who worked together to ensure the smooth completion of the journey across several major districts.
Beyond being a motorcycle ride, the convoy symbolised the Sarawak government’s people-centric leadership approach, providing Abang Johari with an opportunity to observe development on the ground, connect directly with communities and listen to their aspirations at each stop.
The journey concluded with the arrival of the delegation at RH Hotel, Sibu, in the afternoon, marking the end of a route that not only linked Batang Lupar and Sibu but also further strengthened the close bond between the State leadership and the people of Sarawak. — DayakDaily
