KUCHING, May 20: The Tebedu constituents view their development as ‘bayuh sade’ as Dr Simon Sinang Bada (PBB-Tebedu) calls for more infrastructure and economic projects to be implemented in the constituency.

Sinang explained that the ‘bayuh sade’ phrase, which means ‘not enough’ in Bidayuh language, is very prominent in a song called ‘Kampung Love’ by a popular band called Acid Rain, originally from Kampung Krusen.

“I guess almost all Bidayuh-speaking members of the august House know the lyrics and the tempo of this song. If anyone of you do not know it, please ‘Google’ (search) it,” he said when debating on the TYT’s Speech in the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting today.

He said Tebedu was given a name called ‘Bandar Mutiara Tebedu’ of which he praised as ‘beautiful and glittering’.

“Diamonds (referring to the term Mutiara) must glitter. However, I am of the opinion that my constituency is still lacking. It lacks glitters.

“It needs more infrastructure development. It needs more economic development. Current available public facilities need maintenance and need to be upgraded,” he elaborated.

Sinang also mentioned that the new Agriculture Department Office in Tebedu was only manned by two officers who had to do extension service works, office management work and others.

“As such, I wish to appeal and urge the Minister of Modernisation of Agriculture and Regional Development to increase the number of staff with the right knowledge and expertise related to the activities that are being carried out in my constituency.

“The farmers in Tebedu require all the extension services and assistance for them to upgrade their knowledge, upgrade the productivity with the Internet of Things and upgrade their income in line with the State’s aspiration to achieve a high income economy by 2030,” he added.

He also called for more fundings to provide more agriculture roads to the farmers so that they can modernise and mechanised their farming practices and techniques.

Among others, he also called for the dilapidated clinic in Tebedu to be updated and upgraded to a higher level equipped with all the modern medical equipment and facilities to increase the quality of healthcare services. — DayakDaily
