KUCHING, May 20: The Department of Veterinary Services Sarawak (DVSS) will be conducting a mass vaccination, licensing and microchipping programme at SJK Chung Hua Batu Kawa in Kuching and at Balai Raya Sebauh in Bintulu tomorrow (May 21).

Modernisation of Agriculture and Regional Development Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom in a statement today said the programme will start from 9am to 3pm.

ā€œAll dog owners are urged to bring their dogs over to get the free rabies vaccination and apply for a dog license from the licensing counters by the local authority,ā€ he said.

Rundi emphasised that under the Anti-rabies Vaccination Order, all dogs in Sarawak must be vaccinated with the anti-rabies vaccination.

As a reminder, he said, any owner or person in charge of a dog who fails without reasonable cause to comply with the Anti-Rabies Vaccination Order shall be guilty of an offence.

ā€œA fine not exceeding RM2,500 under Section 40, Veterinary Public Health Ordinance (VPHO) 1999, and dogs without evidence of vaccination may be detained or destroyed under this section,ā€ he added.

Rundi also reminded those who are attending to the programme tomorrow to adhere to the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) such as wearing face masks and practicing physical distancing. ā€” DayakDaily
