KUCHING, March 18: Various collaboration opportunities between Sarawak and Australia were discussed during a courtesy visit to Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan by Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner at Investment NSW, Andrew Parker, along with the president of the Sarawak Australia Business Chamber and delegation leader, Rodger Chan.
According to a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) report, among the collaboration opportunities highlighted were renewable energy such as hydro, solar, and biomass, downstream oil and gas, green hydrogen, sustainable agriculture, eco-tourism, and advanced manufacturing.
New sectors such as semiconductors, aerospace, biotechnology, and medical devices also opened new investment opportunities between both parties.
It is understood that Parker also agreed on the potential for cooperation between Sarawak and Australia (New South Wales), particularly in the fields of tourism, sports management, and technical skills education.
Awang Tengah, who is also the Minister for International Trade, Industry, and Investment Sarawak, welcomed further connections between the government and business sectors, as well as social and cultural exchanges that can strengthen relations between the two regions.
Advisor to the Ministry of International Trade, Industry, and Investment Sarawak (MINTRED) Dato Sri Mohd Naroden Majais, permanent secretary Dzulkornain Masron, deputy permanent secretary Lo Sheau Sia, InvestSarawak chief executive officer Timothy Ong, and senior MINTRED officials were also present. — DayakDaily
