SIBU, March 8: The bodies of the two Indonesian women who were murdered have been released to their respective husbands.

Matu-Daro district police chief, DSP Beginda Neil said today that the bodies had been claimed by the two men on March 6 after they had given their testimonies at the High Court on March 4.

“They have to bring back the bodies placed in caskets for burial in Makassar, Sulawesi, Indonesia,” he said.

The bodies of the two victims, Pandang Sarang and Muli Laha were found floating at Dermaga RC Sungai Samong in Daro on Feb 12 and Feb 14. They were believed to have been murdered by the same person.

A third Indonesian woman, Tene, survived an attack believed to be perpetrated by the same murder suspect.

Van driver, Ahmad Robin, 31, employed at an oil palm plantation in Daro, has been charged with the murder of the two women at the High Court on March 4 under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

The offence carries the mandatory death sentence of hanging if he is convicted.

Sijaya, 50, who is Pandang’s husband, had testified in court while Erro Nyala who is Muli’s husband was unable to do do so as he said he was then still mentally distressed by his wife’s death. — DayakDaily
