Kuching logs 754 cases out of 1,903 along with 2 deaths in Sarawak today

KUCHING, March 8: Kuching has logged 754 cases out of the 1,903 cases reported in Sarawak today, with two deaths including one brought-in-dead (BID).

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement said the BID case involved an 83-year-old woman from Kuching who had high blood pressure and dyslipidemia.


Meanwhile, the other fatality involved a 67-year-old man from Miri who suffered from the final stages of kidney disease.

Both passed away on March 5.

On the breakdown of cases, Kuching accounted for 754 cases, followed by Miri (217), Sibu (194) and Bintulu (154).

Fifteen other districts recorded two-digit cases namely Samarahan (88), Serian (83), Bau (56) Matu (37), Sarikei (36), Limbang (33), Sri Aman (31), Tanjung Manis (26), Mukah (19), Betong (17), Saratok (15), Dalat (15), Lawas (14), Daro (13) and Meradong (10).

Other districts which recorded below 10 cases were Kapit (8), Julau (7), Belaga (7), Kanowit (7), Marudi (7), Telang Usan (7), Tebedu (6), Tatau (5), Beluru (5), Sebauh (5), Lundu (4), Simunjan (4), Asajaya (4), Lubok Antu (4), Selangau (4), Kabong (3), Subis (2), Pakan (1) and Pusa (1).

This brings the cumulative number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Sarawak to 270,415.

By clinical categories, there were 712 cases in Category 1 (asymptomatic), 1,179 cases in Category 2 (mild symptoms), six cases in Category 3 (lung infections), five cases in Category 4 (lung infections and required oxygen), and one case in Category 5 (lung infections and requiring ventilator support).

Members of the public are reminded to continue observing the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) and not become restless as the fight against the pandemic has not been won yet. — DayakDaily
