SRI AMAN, Nov 4: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Women chief Dato Sri Doris Sophia Brodie received a blessing as the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate for (P202) Sri Aman from sub-deacon Francis Redan at her ancestral home at Kampung Entebar Undop, Sri Aman today.

Francis gave the blessing, hoping that Doris and her supporters would be spiritually strong and safe during nomination day tomorrow (Nov 5) and in facing all the obstacles during the 15th General Election (GE15).

Earlier, Doris announced that she is the official candidate for PRS and representing GPS in Sri Aman after receiving her appointment letter (watikah) as the candidate from Premiere of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

“This watikah is not for me alone but for the parliamentary constituency of P202 Sri Aman,” she told her supporters.

“Before this apointment, they are many who lobbied to be the candidate for Sri Aman.

“However, with this official apointment of me as candidate we can all start to work together. I respect the maturity of all us involved in politics to ensure fairness in all levels of the political arena and beliefs,” she opined.

Doris thanked those who had supported her candidacy from within her political party, GPS and individual sympathisers.

“You all are the warriors of GPS and that includes all 50,000 over voters in Sri Aman,” she enthused.

“This job cannot be done alone, and if there is a victory on my part, it belongs to us all. I will go all out as the representative of the people of Sri Aman,” she said.

Village head Maureen Michael John also pledged herself and her fellow villagers to give their full support to Doris’s candidacy and will support her to ensure GPS’ victory in Sri Aman.

Present were PRS youth Chief and Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Snowdan Lawan, community leaders, villagers, Doris’ family and supporters. — DayakDaily
