SRI AMAN, Aug 19: A new health clinic is in the pipeline for Sri Aman as the existing facility grapples with overcrowding and safety concerns, with the premises having been deemed unsafe by the Public Works Department (JKR).
The Sarawak government is also seeking to expedite the temporary relocation of the clinic’s operations while plans for the new facility are being pursued.
Sri Aman MP Dato Sri Doris Sophia Brodie and Sri Aman Resident Mahra Salleh held discussions with relevant agencies yesterday (Aug 18) to obtain the latest updates on the matter, particularly with JKR and the National Registration Department (NRD).
Doris said the clinic’s increasingly overcrowded conditions were creating difficulties for the growing number of patients, while also raising concerns over the safety and well-being of both patients and staff.
“The premises have also been identified as unsafe by JKR, making it even more urgent to find an immediate solution,” she said, as quoted by TVS.
She said the meeting agreed that a practical and immediate solution must be identified, with relevant agencies urged to act efficiently, effectively and in a coordinated manner.
Doris also directed that monthly monitoring meetings be held to track progress on the proposed new clinic and plans for the temporary relocation of its operations.
She said the monitoring would continue regularly until a suitable solution is reached. — DayakDaily
