Political pundit confident Sarawak able to achieve free tertiary education objective

Dato Peter Minos

KUCHING, Oct 5: It would be unfortunate if any Sarawakians were denied tertiary education due to a lack of funds, so this must not occur, says political pundit Dato Peter Minos.

According to Minos in a statement, the current talk that the Sarawak government will provide free university education to Sarawakians who are eligible, able, and willing is the best news the people are hearing right now.

“If and when the Sarawak government has the money, why not? With income increasing and new revenue sources emerging, I am confident that there will be enough money for the aforementioned worthwhile exercise,” he said.

He said that Sarawak requires people with skills, expertise, and a high level of education in order to advance in all fields.

“And if this lot has the creativity and innovative ability, they will do wonders for Sarawak and its future.”

Minos noted that when it comes to education, what matters is its quality.

He further emphasised that creativity and innovation are nurtured by individuals who engage in deep thinking and possess a profound understanding of various subjects and issues.

“Just talk to any Japanese fresh graduate and he or she knows what was being learned at university, as well as general knowledge and key affairs in the world. They are truly educated in all senses.”

Additionally, he highlighted that good education must see the full return of English.

“This is a global language of knowledge, science and technology, as well as commerce and industry, and so on. There is no way we can escape from it.

“Proficiency in both spoken and written English is a must,” he added.

The political pundit further remarked that investing in free tertiary education will transform Sarawak into an exceptional place, and this is not just wishful thinking, but a tangible reality. — DayakDaily
