KUCHING, May 14: May is shaping up to be a month of culture, food, and sports for Samarahan so far, with two back-to-back events—the Samarahan Food and Cultural Festival at Aiman Mall on May 10 and the HSL Samarahan Marathon at La Promenade Mall on May 12.

In a press release, Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) chairman Dato Peter Minos said many Sarawakians had enjoyed the food festival and marathon, which lent Samarahan a livelier environment.

At the same time, Minos, who is also the Bung Bratak Heritage Association (BBHA) chairman, expressed appreciation to the Bidayuhs, who were happy with the Bung Bratak Day that was held on May 1.

“The three events made everyone happy and joyful, and that was what it was intended to do. It helped in creating goodwill and unity among the people in Sarawak.

“It gave great satisfaction for us, the organisers, seeing fellow Sarawakians meeting and interacting with each other. Nothing compares to that feeling.

“It is all very rewarding even though it is not very easy to organise. The challenges were worth the effort.

“All helped in making Sarawak a united and harmonious place and that matters a lot. A happy society is a winning community.” — DayakDaily
