Police issue 93 compounds for SOP violations statewide

KUCHING, July 11: Four individuals who were compounded for gathering and gambling, were among the 93 issued with compound notices by the police for various Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) violations throughout the State.

According to the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today, failure to scan the MySejahtera application before entering a premises, counted for the most compound notices issued with a total of 25 compounds.

Among the SOPs violations compounded are loitering in public places beyond the time limit set (20),  gathering and failure to practice social distancing (19), and failure to wear face mask (14).

Apart from that, seven individuals were also issued with compound notices by the police for carrying passengers exceeding the limit in one vehicle.

Other SOPs violations include failure to provide body temperature scanner, hand sanitiser and the QR code for MySejahtera application (one), failure to abide by the 30 per cent workers capacity while the Movement Control Order is in force (one), failure to abide by the 60 per cent workers capacity in construction site (one), and drinking alcoholic beverages in public places (one).

As of today, a total of 9,143 compound notices have been issued by the police.

Meanwhile, the committee said the Ministry of Local Government and Housing Sarawak has also issued a total of 11 compound notices for various SOPs violations, through the local government authority (PBT), bringing the total number of compounds issued by the PBT until today to 1,279 compounds.

Among the SOPs violation compounded by PBT are operating without permit (three), selling non-essential items (three), failure to register with the MySejahtera or registration book (two), failure to update or incomplete registration book (two), and failure to provide hand sanitiser (one). — DayakDaily
