PKRC in Unimas closed after 247-days in operation

KUCHING, Feb 5: The Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) in Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) is now closed after 247-days of operation since it opened its doors on June 2, 2021.

According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today, Kota Samarahan MP Rubiah Wang said the PKRC which is located at Rafflesia College, has treated about 10,000 patients during its operation.

Rubiah said it is also capable of accommodating up to 608 Covid-19 patients at a time while focusing on its patients from Samarahan, Padawan and Siburan.


“After eight months in operation, the PKRC is finally closed as the Covid-19 pandemic situation has showed signs of recovery,” she said.

Rubiah also conveyed her appreciation to all staff involved, especially to PKRC advisor Dr Mohd Asri Riffin and his team who have been involved in the operation since its opening.

She also thanked the management of Unimas and the Samarahan Division Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) for their full cooperation in the effort to control the spread of Covid-19, especially in Kota Samarahan. — DayakDaily
