MIRI, March 1: Four police reports were filed by the Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) against ‘Bozz Jebat’ over allegedly insulting remarks made towards Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and federal Tourism, Arts, and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.

The police reports were made simultaneously on Thursday (Feb 29) at four police stations in Miri, Bintulu, Bau, and Saratok.

They were coordinated by PDP’s Youth chief, David Yeo Ang Lim.

These reports were filed after Bozz Jebat made derogatory comments about Abang Johari and Tiong—with the latter also being PDP’s president—in social media, which went viral recently.

The police reports were made to seek justice and hold Bozz Jebat accountable.

The PDP Youth wing is determined to fight against any form of disrespect and defamation towards Abang Johari and Tiong, Yeo said in a statement today.

“His (Bozz Jebay) statement was deemed to be extremely barbaric with the intent to harm (based on racism) and damage the reputation of (the) Premier Sarawak and Minister of Tourism Malaysia.

“Sarawak was recognised as a high-income State by the World Bank under the leadership of the Premier, while Malaysia has become a major destination for foreign tourists in Asean under the leadership of Dato Sri Tiong; the facts speak for themselves,” Yeo pointed out.

Yeo added that Sarawakians have shown their anger at Bozz Jebat’s irresponsible behaviour.

“Bozz Jebat should be (made) clear on the importance of maintaining harmony in a Malaysian society that is tolerant of all races and cultures,” he said.

On Feb 29, Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) information chief Dato Idris Buang called on the police to conduct a quick but thorough investigation of the video by Bozz Jebat.

On the same day, Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata, in a statement, said that three police reports had been lodged, with two reports at the Santubong police station and one report at the Gita police station.

Mancha added that the case will be investigated under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

Additionally, 13 political secretaries to the Premier of Sarawak, representing 30 others, also filed a police report.

According to several news reports, ‘Bozz Jebat’, identified as Zool Amali Hussin, is a former United Malays National Organisation (Umno) member based in Negeri Sembilan.

In the video, Zool allegedly insulted Abang Johari and criticised the appointment of Dato Sri Tiong King Sing as Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture. — DayakDaily
