PBK seeks answers on deteriorating road condition in Batu Kawah

PBK Southern zone chief Chai Kueh Khun

KUCHING, Nov 26: Party Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) Southern zone chief Chai Kueh Khun is seeking an explanation from Batu Kawah assemblyman Dato Sri Dr. Sim Kui Hian regarding the deteriorated road condition in Batu Kawah constituency.

According to Chai, Dato Sri Dr. Sim Kui Hui Hian, who is also the Minister for Local Government and Housing, has delivered the much-awaited Kampung road surfacing within the Batu Kawah constituency as timely as it could get, just before the Sarawak State election (PRN12), and many side roads had been tar-sealed for the first time after all these 57 Years.

“Recently, there were social media postings on the quality and specifications of the work carried out in the area, and the joy is further short-lived. Only within weeks if not days, the Kampung road along Jalan Sejijak, before Jalan Kampung Tengah Sungai, the newly surfaced tar Kampung road has deteriorated.

“How could this be possible? Since the GPS government has been in high-hype mode and serious with its integrity, transparency and accountability way of administration in the past few years,” Chai asked in a statement today.

Chai pointed out the “rakyat” would also like to be informed of the project’s total cost, in ringgit-per-square-meter or per-square-foot rate. It would be easier to know the total cost in this way.

“The “rakyat” have the right to know, as it is paid for by taxpayers’ money. The roads are newly implemented, it is within the warranty period (relevant agencies kindly make public the warranty period), and we look forward to all the work to be redone and to comply with the specified requirements,” he added. – DayakDaily.
