MIRI, Oct 28: Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) Miri Division chairman Leslie Ting has questioned Sarawak United Peoples’ Party’s (SUPP) sincerity to fight for Sarawak’s rights when the latter submitted the names of Miri City councillors as their potential candidates in the 15th General Election (GE15).

“I’m questioning their sincerity and credibility in fighting for the fundamental interests of Sarawakians when the party has submitted the names of the city council councillors,” said Ting when met on Friday.

“I need to remind Miri City Council (MCC) that in Parliament there are ‘longkangs’ (drains). What do they (councillors) know about the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), about the Petroluem Development Act 1974 and what are the rights of Sarawakians taken by the Federal government?

“I see there is no sincerity from SUPP to fight (for Sarawak’s rights) or restore the MA63.”

Ting was seen at the Election Commission’s offices in Miri at around 9am, showing support for Parti Sarawak Bersatu’s (PSB) prospective candidate Datuk Lawrence Lai, who was there earlier to purchase the nomination form for GE15.

On PBK’s stance not to contest in Miri but instead give their support for PSB’s candidate to contest in Miri during GE15, Ting said they needed to better their chances to win the seat (Miri).

Ting also quashed Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) claim that Sarawak-home based political parties are out to split the votes in GE15.

“PBK, PSB and Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS) are home-based parties, unlike PH or DAP, which are Malayan parties. We know more about Sarawak and we’re not related to any Malayan political parties,” he said.
