The initiative is viewed as a catalyst for improving health awareness and habits, especially among rural populations.

According to a report by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), Henry emphasised that ANMS is not just a campaign, but rather a people’s movement that unites various parties to make a healthy lifestyle a daily norm.

He commended the programme’s inclusive approach, which focuses on reaching rural communities by offering a range of free health services and engaging activities.

Key highlights of the programme included physical and mental health screenings, dental check-ups, a blood donation drive, and the Wellness on Wheels (WoW) mobile health truck, which provides essential services to residents in remote areas.

To make the health-focused event more holistic and engaging, a variety of leisure activities such as aerobics, karaoke competitions, and a Children’s Gawai Queen contest were also organised. These efforts aimed to address not only physical health, but also emotional and social well-being.

Henry, who is also the State Assemblyman (ADUN) for Tasik Biru, stressed that health begins at home, with families and communities playing a key role.

He called for the continuation and expansion of community-based health programmes, not only for immediate benefits but also as a legacy that encourages future generations to adopt and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Also in attendance were Kuching Deputy Resident Lim Hock Meng, Health Promotion Branch head Lilis Suriani Razali, Bau District Officer Eddy Nayoi, Bau District Health Officer Dr Irwina Ibrahim, and Bau District Bidayuh Community Leader Robert Tom Juin. – DayakDaily
