KUCHING, April 28: Nightclubs can now reopen their doors to the public starting May 15 after two long years of closure due to Covid-19.

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin announced this during a hybrid press conference streamed from Putrajaya yesterday (April 27).

He also added that relevant agencies are preparing protocols for operations of these soon-to-be reopened nightlife premises.

“That is the only institution still in the negative list, so I think you can understand,” said Khairy when asked by reporters if nightclubs specifically would be allowed to reopen.

Khairy said a discussion session with owners of nightclubs was held and there were several protocols suggested by both parties, which would be finalised by the National Security Council (NSC).

“Which is why I said that for the negative list, premises which are still under the negative list will only be enforced on May 15.

“There is some time for us to finalise the protocols so that the customers of the premises are safe when they go to such premises,” he said. — DayakDaily
