Nicholester’s demise, a loss for police

KUCHING, Nov 2: The passing of the late Constable Nicholester Dadup Unggat, 20, is a loss for the police, said Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail.

“On behalf of Sarawak police contingent, I would like to convey my condolence to the late Nicholester Dadup Unggat’s family members; it is also a loss for us too,” he told DayakDaily, after the ceremony to receive the deceased’s body at the Kuching International Airport (KIA) cargo terminal, today.

Nicholester’s remains arrived at about 4pm from Johor, where at least 10 family members, including the deceased’s father and sister, were waiting as early as 3pm.

Due to the poor weather condition, the deceased’s body was brought back to Sibu by road, accompanied by the family members, and is expected to arrive at around 2am tomorrow.

Yesterday at about 5am, Nicholester was killed in a road accident while in pursuit of two suspected criminals who were fleeing from him and his colleague Lance Corporal Mohammad Fadhirul Musa, 32, at Jalan Kangkar Tebrau/Jalan Tun Teja, Johor Bahru.

Police officers are seen loading the casket into the hearse at the KIA cargo terminal, before being brought to Sibu by road.

Their patrol car crashed into an SUV and overturned. Johor police chief Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay confirmed that Nicholester was killed on the spot while Mohd Fadhirul who survived the accident, sustained injury. — DayakDaily
