834 new Covid-19 cases recorded, five new clusters confirmed

PUTRAJAYA, Nov 2: The Ministry of Health (MOH) revealed the country recorded a total of new 834 Covid-19 cases today, with five new clusters identified.

Its director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the new clusters were pinpointed in Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan, Sabah, Labuan and Sarawak.

“Out of the total number of cases recorded, three were imported cases which were recorded in Kuala Lumpur (2) and Labuan (1), while 831 other were local transmissions, which brings the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in the country to 33,339.


“Currently, a total of 9,968 Covid-19 cases are still active, and they have been isolated and are being treated in hospitals,” he said in a press conference here today.

Dr Noor Hisham noted Sabah recorded the highest number of cases with 503, followed by Selangor (129), Labuan (105), Kuala Lumpur (22), Pulau Pinang (21), Negeri Sembilan (16), Sarawak (14), Johor (nine), Putrajaya (six), Kedah (three), Perak (three), Kelantan (one), and Pahang (one).

Terengganu, Perlis and Melaka recorded no new Covid-19 cases today.

At the same time, Dr Noor Hisham also revealed that a total of 900 cases (69.3 per cent) recovered today.

“This brings the total number of recovered and discharged cases in the country to 23,120 cases. However, two deaths from Covid-19 were also recorded today in Sabah involving cases 16,576 and 14,013.

“At the moment, 91 cases are still being treated in Intensive Care Units (ICUs) with 32 of them requiring respiratory assistance,” he said. — DayakDaily
