KUCHING, May 10: The woman who performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on a 55-year-old man known only as ‘Mr Law’ after he collapsed at the Kuching International Airport (KIA) on April 30 was found but wanted no recognition for what she did.

In a Facebook post, Dr Tang Sie Hing, who is a cardiologist, said he received confirmation that the Good Samaritan is a staff member at Timberland Medical Centre and has given her account of the incident.

“She was on the same flight as Mr Law, travelling from Sibu (via AirAsia) to Kuching. She saw Mr Law collapse and immediately she, and another doctor, together with other allied health professionals, took turns to do CPR.

“Three shocks were delivered from the automated external defibrillator (AED) before Mr Law was taken to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH),” he said.

However, he said the woman has declined any form of recognition or gratitude and wants to remain anonymous, to which Dr Tang said he respected her wishes and hoped that the search for her would come to an end.

Since the incident, Law’s family appealed to the public to come forward with the woman’s identity as they wanted to express their gratitude to her personally.

As for Law, who suffered a cardiac event, he was brought to Timberland Medical Centre, where he underwent a series of medical procedures, and his condition has been stabilised. He is currently resting at home in Sibu. — DayakDaily
