MIRI, May 10: A house along Jalan Padang Kerbau was completely destroyed in an afternoon fire today.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Miri Central received an emergency call at 1.44pm and immediately dispatched a team of firefighters to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered that the blaze had engulfed a two-storey semi-permanent structure, which was already fully ablaze and subsequently razed.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported as the house was unoccupied at the time of the incident.
According to reports, the residence was rented by a family of five—two adult males, two adult females, and a three-year-old boy—as well as an additional adult male tenant.
Firefighters carried out the operation by deploying two 300-foot hose lines equipped with two nozzles, drawing water from a fire hydrant located approximately 700 feet from the scene.
The fire was successfully brought under control and fully extinguished. The operation concluded after firefighters confirmed the site was safe and free from any remaining fire hazards.
The cause of the fire and the estimated losses are currently under investigation by Bomba. — DayakDaily
