KUCHING, Oct 8: The Miri Country Music Fest (MCMF) scheduled to return in 2021 is expected to attract a wide variety of festival goers with a more diverse range of performers and festival line-up, whilst redesigning the way event goers will meet at the festival.

According to MCMF founder and festival advisor Gracie Geikie, in line with Place Borneo’s Meet Differently campaign, the event will continue with its same annual festival and in accordance with the updated guidelines and festival layout as the organisers pledge to adhere to strict health and safety measures in compliance with the Sarawak government health department’s event guidelines.

“We want to give Mirians an unforgettable country music festival to look forward to next year, whilst focusing on safety and health first, following the government’s advice.

It will be a smaller scale event but will still have all the vibrant elements that make it memorable. We look forward to announcing the event dates soon,’ she said in a press statement today.

Gracie noted, the seven-year old festival has been deemed the first international country and western music festival in Malaysia and the only one of its kind in South East Asia.

MCMF, she said, has featured many local and international bands with different styles of music – from Australia, USA, Britain, Germany, Singapore, Indonesia, Czech Republic and European expats working in Asian regions.

“MCMF supports both Malaysian and international, big and small, country music performers and gives them a platform to showcase and promote their music to a wider audience.

“MCMF also features music workshops, dance workshops and activities for both children and adults,” she added. — DayakDaily
