KUCHING, Dec 9: Members of the public and legal practitioners in Sabah and Sarawak have been urged to use eJamin to pay their court bail as it is easier, faster, and saves time.

According to a statement issued by the Office Of The Chief Registrar Federal Court Of Malaysia today, this is also to avoid queuing up at banks and courts, which will prevent the spread of Covid-19.

“Manual bail transactions are still used in most courts in Sabah and Sarawak.

“In this regard, members of the public and legal practitioners in Sabah and Sarawak are welcomed to use the eJamin application,” said the statement.

It also added that posters on eJamin have been made in six different languages, namely Bahasa Malaysia, English, Dusun, Kadazan, Murut, and Iban, which can be accessed via this link.

The eJamin application is a digital court bail payment solution that was launched in January 2020 and is available at 164 court locations in Malaysia.

It has shortened the bail process from a few hours to just a few minutes by enabling payments, returns, and forfeiture of bail money via smartphones and web browsers.

To date, RM141 million in bail has been paid using the digital platform. — DayakDaily
