Court grants bail to Sibu man accused of cheating

SIBU, April 7: A 35-year old man has been released on a bail of RM4,000 in two sureties by the Magistrate’s Court today for cheating.

The accused, Ngu Heng King, of Jalan Ek Dee pleaded not guilty to the charge under Section 420 of the Penal Code.

According to the brief fact of the case which was read before Magistrate Punitha Sivaraji, the accused had on May 18, 2020, deceived a 29-year-old insurance agent into buying 12 per cent share of a company for the price of RM45,000.


The victim had earlier befriended the accused from Facebook.

After transfering the money to the accused’s account, the victim asked for the document from the company for the purchase of the share.

The accused, however, gave various reasons and later blocked the victim’s number.

The victim felt that he had been cheated and lodged a police report.
