KUCHING, Sept 3: A police report filed by a concerned mother has led to a barrage of criminal charges against a married couple for the alleged sexual abuse, drugging, and filming of her 16-year-old daughter.
The allegations stem from acts reportedly committed at a residence in Batu Kawa, Padawan, in May 2025. Investigators launched an inquiry after the victim’s mother received a video allegedly depicting the couple engaged in sexual acts with her daughter.
Both accused have denied all charges.
The case has since been split across three separate courtrooms in the Sessions Court today.
Appearing before Judge Iris Awen Jon, the 45-year-old husband pleaded not guilty to charges of rape and physical sexual assault.
His charges fall under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code, Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act (SOACA) 2017, and Section 377C of the Penal Code, each read together with Section 16(1) of SOACA 2017. His next case management date is scheduled for Oct 6, 2026.
In a separate hearing before Judge Musli Ab Hamid, the 42-year-old wife entered a not-guilty plea to charges under Section 14(a) of SOACA 2017, Section 377CA of the Penal Code, and Section 328 of the Penal Code.
Prosecutors allege she committed non-consensual indecent physical acts against the teenager and spiked the victim’s drink with four sleeping pills to facilitate an offence. Her case returns to court on Sept 28, 2026.
The couple then appeared jointly before Judge Mursyida Abd Halim, where they both denied charges of filming sexual acts with the victim to produce child sexual abuse material.
For this, they are charged under Section 5 of SOACA 2017, read alongside Section 16(1) of the same Act and Section 34 of the Penal Code. This matter was also fixed for case management on Oct 6, 2026.
All three presiding judges ordered the couple to remain remanded at Puncak Borneo Prison pending their next court appearances.
