KUCHING, Nov 13: Kuching South City council (MBKS) tells off individuals who are claiming credit for the council’s hard work and achievements.

In stating this, MBKS mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng said it was obvious that these individuals were taking credits of others because what had been accomplished on the ground were beyond their their capability and means.

He thus called on the public not to entertain any “middlemen” but contact MBKS directly.

“If you have an issue with the infrastructure in your area, please raise it with MBKS staff. Cut out the middlemen. They just slow the process down, but they will claim credit despite little effort being made on their side, only pointing and complaining and claiming credit.

“So we request the public to come directly to the source, and we will be happy to do whatever we can to see to your needs,” said Wee in a statement.

He said there are over 100 projects under MBKS jurisdiction that need to be upgraded. The total cost for these projects is estimated to be RM4 million.

MBKS takes a year or more to prepare for each project to be upgraded as it needs to go through proper procedure of assessment, design, budgeting, and budget proposal submission. Projects can only proceed after receiving funding, followed by a prompt open tender process to select contractors for implementation.

“A dedicated team of MBKS councillors, staff, and contractors have just started work on the drains in Lorong BDC F6 and F8 starting in September this year,” said Wee. — DayakDaily
