KUCHING, Aug 21: The Institute of Management Sarawak (MASA), Sarawak’s homegrown non-governmental organisation (NGO) established in 1993, has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM) on the improvement of management practices in Malaysia.

The MoU was inked on Wednesday (Aug 17) at MIM’s 55th Anniversary Royal Gala Dinner at the St Regis Kuala Lumpur in Kuala Lumpur.

According to a press release, MASA delegates led by its president, Datu Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, and witnessed by the MASA board of directors, signed the historic MoU.

Meanwhile, MIM was represented by its chairman, Tan Sri Dato Seri Megat Najmuddin Megat Khas and its board of directors.

Abdullah also extended an invitation to MIM senior management to attend a senior management retreat and programme in Sarawak in the future.

Furthermore, Abdullah described the MoU as a significant milestone as MASA continued to be progressive and adaptive in meeting its members’ changing needs and demands and the Sarawak industries’ rapidly changing operating environment.

He stated that management and leadership styles had evolved rapidly to support changing operational requirements while taking concrete steps to adapt to the new normal Post-Covid-19.

“Synergistic, smart partnerships will be key in accelerating the growth of MASA’s progress as it aims to provide continuous, enhanced, and seamless services post Covid-19 to its diverse memberships,” he said.

Moreover, MASA deputy president Dunstan Chan described the MoU as a natural transition from MASA’s current business model.

“The MoU will provide new avenues and meet MASA’s missions through collaborative efforts while keeping MASA’s principles at its core.

“This is a significant milestone as MASA moves towards the successful execution of our long-term goals to position itself as a leading NGO within the region,” Chan noted. — DayakDaily
