SIBU, Nov 11: Malaysian Children’s Hospice (MCH) has established its first branch in East Malaysia, situated in Jalan Salim, to cater to children with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses in the central region, covering areas such as Sibu, Jalan Oya, Teku, and Sibujaya.

Dr Jee Rou Chen, the branch chairman, revealed that volunteers would undergo training at the center to become palliative caregivers for these children.

The MCH Sibu Branch aims to provide essential clinical services for families seeking support for their children.

Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian, speaking through his representative Sibu Municipal Council chairman Clarence Ting, highlighted the significance of palliative care, emphasising that while around 2,000 pediatric cases in Sibu annually require palliative care, only approximately 10 per cent receive it.

Dr Sim expressed gratitude to Yayasan Farley for their financial support in establishing the center and urged the community and private sector to actively participate and support palliative and hospice care through corporate social responsibility (CSR). ā€” DayakDaily
