KUCHING, Sept 8: The haze has worsened, with Lundu recording the highest Air Pollutant Index (API) reading at 329, followed by Serian at 303, placing both areas in the ‘hazardous’ category as of 6am today.
According to the Natural Resource and Environment Board Sarawak, Lundu recorded a significant increase from Monday’s (Sept 7) 12pm reading of 260. Serian also recorded an increase, with its API rising from 222 to 303.
Meanwhile, several other areas in Sarawak recorded API readings above 200 today, indicating ‘very unhealthy’ air quality. These include Kuching at 241, Samarahan at 239, Sri Aman at 230, Tebedu at 242, and Lubok Antu at 212.
Other areas remain in the ‘unhealthy’ category, including Sarikei at 186, Sibu at 169, Mukah at 185, Bintulu at 170, Samalaju at 178, Miri at 167, Kanowit at 190, Lawas at 110, and Betong at 191.
Kapit and Limbang remained in the ‘moderate’ category, with API readings below 100.
Bario remains in the ‘good’ category, with an API of 38. — DayakDaily
