KUCHING, June 29: As part of their contribution to help those in need at this time of economic crisis due to Covid-19 pandemic, Liansin Trading Sdn Bhd is distributing freshly prepared lunch box to individuals everyday throughout the Movement Control Order (MCO), except for Sundays.

Its assistant marketing manager Alex Teng told DayakDaily that the meals are available on first-come-first-serve basis at CS Mini Market Metrocity and E-Mart Batu Kawa in Kuching; and Farley Supermarket in Kota Samarahan.

ā€œThe meals can be collected from 11.30am at any of these outlets. It consists of fried rice with eggs, freshly cooked by our own Liansinā€™s staff. We use our premium Butterfly Rice and Haryana Basmati Rice.

ā€œThe MCO has greatly impacted a lot of people. The less fortunate have become more vulnerable now and they need more than the usual support to sustain themselves.

ā€œIt is a challenge even for us, but we want to do our part to help those in need. Please help us inform the public so they can share this news,ā€ Teng said.

His colleague Shamila Junubi took up the task to cook the meals everyday.

ā€œWe understand the hardship faced by those affected. Although money is important, doing good to fellow human beings regardless of race and religion, is equally of the essence.

ā€œI am lucky that I still have a job, and because of this, I am grateful to my employer. There are many among us who are not as fortunate as us and living in poverty. I want to help and this is one way for me to do so,ā€ Shamila said.

Meanwhile, CS Mini Market supervisor Bong Hui Ming said they are glad to be part of this meaningful project by offering their venue for Liansin to use as food distribution centres.

ā€œThis effort should be continued because many people are not able to work and have no income. They are struggling to make ends meet, especially during this unprecedented time,ā€ she added. ā€” DayakDaily
