KUCHING, Oct 17: Land and Survey Department Sarawak, through the project “Power4fileds – Portable Power Supply”, won the Chief Minister’s Innovation Award 2019.
Speaking on innovation and creativity at the Sarawak Innovative and Creative Group (KIK) Convention closing ceremony last night, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said such efforts and culture can help drive Sarawak into the digital world in the near future.
“We must be prepared to make changes especially in the face of competitive knowledge-based digital economy. Therefore the convention is in line with the government’s effort to transform the Sarawak economy using digital technology,” he said.
Amazed at the numbers and types of products or services in this year’s convention, he also want Sarawakians to compete in the global market.
“Over the years, the KIK teams had come up with innovative and unique products, means our people are constantly thinking out of the box to solve problems. In my view, innovation means effective ideas, solution along the way and at the end, benefiting the people,” Abang Johari said.
This year’s convention gathered almost 1,000 civil servants from 133 KIK groups. — DayakDaily
