Land and Survey Dept foils illegal sand dredging

KUCHING, Nov 30: The Land and Survey Department’s enforcement unit successfully thwarted an attempt to dredge sand without a permit in here yesterday.

In the operation, a barge and a crane that were used to carry out the illegal activity were seized, said the department in a statement.

A patrol team had detected the activity, and the case will be investigated under Section 32A of the State Land Code (Chapter 81).


Those who wanted to conduct mineral composition dredging activities are advised to refer to the nearest Land and Survey office for advice to avoid enforcement actions.
