KUCHING, June 28: Michael Kong, the special assistant to Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen has urged the Sarawak government to come up with more assistance to help the B40 income group amidst the extension of the Movement Control Order (MCO).

Kong, in a press statement today, said those from the B40 income group are the hardest hit by the MCO.

Thus, he called on the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government to provide more food aid to the B40 income group as he claimed that the food aid distributed previously were not enough to sustain for another two weeks.

“With the extension of the current MCO (which is supposed to expire on June 28), whatever food aid the Sarawak government has previously given during the first week of MCO is not enough for most people.

“The supplies given by GPS can barely sustain most people for two to three weeks.

“With many currently unable to work, GPS is leaving all of these people high and dry while waiting for the sky to fall,” he claimed.

In the meantime, Kong said DAP continued to provide food aid to the less fortunate although the political party was deprived of the funding from the State government.
